“The times (that he is running) suggest that he’s pretty similar to what he was last year, which is very unusual,” co-trainer Kel Greenough said.
“It’s like a Scotty Pendlebury winning a Brownlow at 36.”
Melbourne Cup heats are the direction Team Greenough is taking with Big Energy.
Fields are expected to be released around midday on Wednesday.
When pressed about a Phoenix slot, Greenough confirmed talks are being held.
“Without saying too much we have had a bit of interest in the dog. We certainly thinking about that situation.”
